The 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund has made a $5,000 donation to the Mass Military Heroes. The Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, programs and services to the families of military service personnel from Massachusetts fallen in service to the United States in support of Operations Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The check presentation was made during their 3rd Annual Night at the Holiday Pops event.
The Mass Soldiers Legacy Fund is a charitable trust that seeks to honor Massachusetts fallen Servicemen and Women by providing educational assistance grants to the children of Massachusetts Service members who were killed while deployed on Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. The MSLF offers educational assistance grants to the children of Massachusetts fallen service. The 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund donated $5,000 to assist in giving these educational grants.

Air Force Tech Sergeant Deslauriers Air Force Tech Sergeant Joe Deslauriers survived aroadside bomb attack while overseas in Afghanistan, losing both of his legs and part of an arm. He was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan were his convoy’s mission was to clear bombs. He is currently recovering at Walter Reed Hospital. Learning of his story, the fund made Tech Sergeant Deslauriers their newest beneficiary and donated $5,000 to help aid his recovery.
Army Specialist Andy Kingsley was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division stationed in Afghanistan. He was injured while trying to help members of his unit seek cover during an attack on their position. Andy faced many months of rehabilitation at Walter Reed Hospital and while he was there “Team Andy” worked hard to prepare his family home and support his family when for his return. The 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund donated $10,000 to support Team Andy in their efforts.
The 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund donated $10,000 to the non-profit organization Homes for Our Troops. The mission of Homes for Our Troops is to honor and assist severely injured Servicemen and Servicewomen and their immediate families by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor and to coordinate the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.
