The 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund made a $10,000 donation to Operation Santa, Massachusetts.

The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation hosted their annual Army-Navy Luncheon. For the second straight year the fund decided to be a major sponsor and donated $10,000 to Operation Santa. Operation Santa is a program that supports children of Fallen Heroes and children of deployed National Guard Members and Reservists. They provide gift cards to these special kids during the holiday season.

 

The Re-Dedication of the 1st Lt. Derek S. Hines Bridge was held on August 13, 2012

 

 

The Hines family was joined by local and state officials Monday, August 13 to officially dedicate the newly rebuilt 1st Lieutenant Derek S. Hines Memorial Bridge.

In attendance was Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray, Richard Davey, secretart of the Massachusetts Department of Transporation; Coleman Nee, secretary of the Massachusetts Department of Veterans Services; state Rep. Michael Costello, D-Newburyport; Amesbury Mayor Thatcher Kezer, Newburyport Mayor Donna Holaday and Salisbury Town manager Neil Harrington.

The bridge was under construction for over 2 years and was recently completed and will now be open. 

 

The 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund presented a $25,000 check to the Red Sox Foundation's Home Base Program 

The 1st Lt. Derek hines Soldiers Assistance Fund presented the Boston Red Sox Foundation a $25,000 check during their inaugural Flag Day 5K road race to benefit the fund. The Red Sox Foundation has teamed up with Mass General Hospital to create the Home Base Program in support of local veterans and their families struggling with the two signature wounds of the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, combat stress disorders and traumatic brain injuries. The 1st Lt. Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Fund is pleased to be able to donated to a worthy cause.
